States With Sports Betting Laws

Despite the ubiquity of internet gambling, sports betting has yet to be legalized in all 50 states. However, some states have started the process. Below are the states that have legalized sports betting, along with some information about the state’s sports betting market.

New York: Aside from the fact that Caesars Sportsbook NY offers the largest market in the state, they also offer many promotions, including daily odds boosts, free drinks and more. They also offer a $1,250 welcome bonus. However, the best sportsbook in New York is likely BetMGM. They offer the best odds, a big variety of games, and unique promotions for New Yorkers. They have the biggest welcome bonus of any of the other states.

Pennsylvania: With sports betting legalized in the state, the Gaming Control Board opted to license a dozen online sportsbooks. It also required a $10 million license fee. They also took advantage of the latest technological advancements by offering mobile sportsbook registration.

Connecticut: Sports betting in Connecticut took a little longer to get off the ground. The law allowing mobile sports betting was signed by Governor J.B. Pritzker on June 5, 2020. However, it wasn’t until May of the following year that sports betting was approved in Connecticut. The law was also delayed by a tribal compact.

Virginia: As of September 2019, Virginia sports betting is legal. Virginia’s first five land-based casinos were approved by the Commonwealth citizens. However, there are no land-based sportsbooks in the state.
