The NFL’s Partnerships With Sportsbooks

Those who have spent time following the NFL are familiar with the gambling content that infuses the broadcasts. The league has worked to protect itself from corruption and ensure that players are properly trained to handle their betting accounts. They have also created partnerships with betting operators to make the experience more enjoyable for fans.

In April, the NFL announced a trio of sportsbook partners. DraftKings, BetMGM and FanDuel will provide wagering services for the league. Each of these companies has a unique relationship with the NFL.

Last year, the NFL made a deal with a data-analytics firm. It would license that company’s video and live scoring data to sportsbooks. This was the first step toward building a leaguewide sportsbook. However, the NFL has moved a bit cautiously with this development.

With the repeal of the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act, it became possible to move forward with the regulation of legal sports gambling. As a result, the NFL and other media partners were able to start taking a more aggressive approach to betting content.

For instance, last year, ESPN Plus offered a gambling theme simulcast. Since then, the NFL has been experimenting with other forms of gambling content.

The NFL and its broadcasters can sell six sportsbook commercials per game. These ads will appear along the bottom of the screen. Moreover, the NFL has allowed teams to partner with sportsbooks to sponsor teams in states where it is legal to bet.
